February was a busy month for the Chinese community in Leeds, with celebrations taking place throughout the city to mark Chinese New Year.
The Chinese student population in Leeds is very sizeable and growing year on year. In this academic year 2017-18 at the University of Leeds alone, there are 3168 Chinese students, 2689 of which are new entrants. This includes 1005 at Undergraduate level, 2015 at postgraduate level and 148 post-graduate research students. The University of Leeds also has nearly 7,000 alumni located in China, making up 12% of their international community!
It was very fitting for the Business Confucius Institute of the University of Leeds to host this year’s Yorkshire and Humber Chinese New Year dinner, a special celebration of the Year of the Dog.
